There were 3 covers with early postage due stamps in the recent auction by David Feldman:
1917 Noble cover, no stamp, charged 4d postage due, said to be one of only 4 covers with the 4d postage due. Unsold for £1700.
1918 Monckton cover with 1/4d stamp, underpaid 2 1/2d, with 1d and 1 1/2d postage dues. Unsold for £1400
1922 US 2c stationery cover from Honolulu, underpaid 3d, with 3d postage due (SG D9). Sold for £1000

I have always wondered why these covers seem to be so highly-priced; it is not as though they are rare (although they certainly are uncommon). In my opinion, covers with the second series of postage due stamps (1918) are very much scarcer than the 1917 ones.
